                                                                                   now, then
Describe a typical session for us. What kinds of
things are you thinking about when you’re be- when?
            hind the camera?
I work mostly with the show dogs, especially
Great Danes and so, I divide my sessions for:
            • Full-time session – when I have dedicated
                time and space for my models;
            • Studio session – As I have all equipment at
home, I can meet you here or at any place
you like, but I work with it really rarely as I start first with posed photos, as it’s harder to
prefer working in natural environment and work with a dog after play – when he can’t focus
light; anymore, not to mention that he needs some

            • Mini session after the show – my least favou- tions when there is no way for a dog to stand so
rite sessions, as it’s always lots of stress and we are giving him some time to play first, to relax
not enough time; and after that, we can try once more.
            • Dog shows photo reports.
During the session itself, I’m always thinking ab-
After years of working as a photographer, I can out what kind of photo of my own dog I would
tell you that from these types of the session I like to have. I’m looking at the light and what I
love all, apart from the mini sessions after the have around. For posed/standing photos I’m al-
shows. It’s the moment when everyone is ti- ways trying to wait for that one second when the

go home – I really don’t like it. If it’s a place you style, which is already recognisable for some –
have never been too then there is only a little bit and I want to keep it that way.

That’s the reason why most of these photos are After years “of doing it” I must admit that my

you will do some magic – mostly photoshop ma- catch perfect moments of a dog in the ring be-
gic, which I don’t like. cause you can’t tell the handler what you want,
you need to be always ready for it. Photo reports
Before the full-time session, I always speak with made by me are not only of the dogs in their
pet owners to get to know, what they actually professional/classic positions – but there is also

photos, or movement, or just some fun photo I love the most are these special moments – a

my clients want a little bit of everything. If so, I can capture the bond between owner/handler
