Editor's note

This year has already started very turbulent, with the covid pandemic that is still
around us and now the war in Ukraine which has put everybody under alert; even
with these worries, the vision and direction of the Magazine were not blurred or overshadowed
by any of it.

We are celebrating the free spirit of the fifth issue of The Great Dane Magazine with refreshed
vigor, we make a tour around the world, interviewing Great Dane Lovers from more than eight
different countries! We bring you an interview with our cover stars breeder, Torben Hærslev
from the Bentleys Kennel in Denmark, another with the specialist judge and veterinarian, Dr.
Amelia Murante, from Italy and Bettina Balters, a talented animal photographer from Germany.

We bring you expansive feature stories about Great Danes in very different places like Victoria
in Australia, Belgium and The Netherlands. We also pass by Hungary, Israel and United States,
interviewing the famous breeders Meherzugi, Tali Halperin, Trisha Labruzzo and Sterling Moffat.

Next, we have the second article from the series “Comparing the Breed Standard”: this time,
discuss the Great Dane head, a very important and controversial subject. We talked to vets
from different specialties to bring you information about eye problems and megaesophagus,
finishing it off with interviews from a Junior Handler and a professional Handler, the Oldie
Goldie, among other great articles.
